California’s Proposition 65 (the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986) requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about exposures to chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

Nicotine is on California’s Proposition 65 list as a chemical known to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. Our products contain nicotine. Accordingly, we provide the following warnings for shipments to California and display this notice online.

Required Warning Language

Long-Form Warning (website & packaging)

WARNING: This product can expose you to nicotine, which is known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information, go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.

Short-Form Warning (space-constrained labels)

WARNING: Exposes you to nicotine—a chemical known to CA to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. www.P65Warnings.ca.gov

We may use the long-form or short-form safe-harbor warning depending on label size and layout constraints.

Where You’ll See the Warning

  • On product packaging (box/pouch/label) shipped to or sold in California

  • On relevant product detail pages and during checkout before purchase

  • In customer communications (e.g., order confirmations to CA addresses), as appropriate.

What Is Proposition 65?

Proposition 65 requires California to publish a list of chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. It also requires businesses to provide a “clear and reasonable” warning before knowingly and intentionally exposing anyone in California to a listed chemical. A Proposition 65 warning does not mean a product is unsafe; it means the business is providing notice of a potential exposure under California’s standards.
